Trip to Vietnam

In December of 2017, my friend and colleague Manh-Huong Phan invited me to Vietnam to the ISAMMA 2017 meeting on the island of Phu Quoc.

We first stopped in Hanoi where I visited Professor Duc at Vietnam National University:

We then toured some labs at VNU, including this lab of Prof. Do Thi Huong Giang. I was generally impressed by the quality and capability of the labs.

We then flew to the beautiful island of Phu Quoc and spent a day looking around.

Of course after I saw some real honeycombs I started thinking about magnets and my talk.

Phan and I also got to meet two theoretical colleagues who have been working on Cr1/3NbS2, Jun Kishine and Alexander Ovchinnikov. We discussed future collaborations and they gave me us a hard copy of their fantastic review article:

Kishine, J.-I. and Ovchinnikov, A. S. “Chapter One – Theory of Monoaxial Chiral HelimagnetSolid State Physics 66, (2015): 1–130. doi:10.1016/bs.ssp.2015.05.001, Available at http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S008119471500004

Then I had a 36 hour trip back home!
